The 2016 Ford Focus RS will produce 350HP that exceeds the original estimate of 315HP.

Ford unveiled its new hatchback, the Focus RS, at the Geneva Motor Show in March this year. At the time, the American carmaker claimed that the Focus RS will offer an output of 315HP.

"The third-generation high-performance hatch features a 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine delivering well in excess of 315 horsepower, along with the most powerful Ford RS braking system ever," said the March press release.

A few months have passed and it seems that Ford has tuned the car's 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine. Engineers of the company have now certified that the car will produce 350HP and 350 pound-feet of torque.

"The unique EcoBoost engine in the all-new Focus RS will produce 350 horsepower - far exceeding original estimates of 315 - along with 350 lb.-ft. torque," per the latest Ford Focus RS press release.

Ford says that the output of the new Focus RS engine is achieved due to its all-new low-inertia twin-scroll turbocharger and a larger compressor wheel, which delivers extra airflow as well as power through the entire rev range.

The turbo pressure is backed by a large intercooler, which keeps the turbines cool when they are spinning at high speeds. The cylinders also have a high-tensile cast iron lining that ensures that the engine is able to handle the immense pressure.

The Focus RS packs the hefty 350HP at 6,000 rpm and it will go to a 6,800-rpm redline. These figures put the all-new Focus RS nearly to the top of the sport compact segment. The new Ford car will easily overpower the Volkswagen Golf R and the Subaru WRX STI.

Customers looking out for an automatic car will be disappointed as the Ford Focus RS will be available only in six-speed manual transmission.

Production of the car will start later in 2015.
