Ferrari shows the world a new masterpiece, the F12tdf, and it seems like it's a completely different beast from the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta.

The F12tdf stands for F12 Tour De France, paying homage not to the bicycle race but to the legendary endurance road race that Ferrari dominated in the 1950s and '60s. To win four times consecutively, Ferrari used its 1956 250 GT Berlinetta, making it quite notorious nowadays.

As essentially the successor of the 599 GTO, The F12tdf sports the current naturally aspirated 6.3L V12 that's also found in the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta's engine room. However, under the F12tdf's hood, that particular engine is powered up, delivering up to 770 horsepower and allowing the super car to sprint from 0 to 62 mph in just 2.9 seconds and from 0 to 124 mph in 7.9 seconds. The carmaker also officially stated that its top speed is "in excess of 211 mph."

Aside from an engine upgrade, Ferrari focused on aerodynamics, vehicle dynamics and other features. For instance, the F12tdf's maximum torque is up from 690 Nm to 705 Nm and is available at 6,750 rpm, not to mention that 80 percent is already available from 2,500 rpm, reaching the limit of 8,900 rpm.

Ferrari also says that steering wheel response has improved significantly because of its Virtual Short Wheelbase, as the F12tdf can do higher cornering now while fixing its oversteering issue.

In terms of stopping power, the F12tdf is on the same level as the LaFerrari, as they are both fitted with the same one-piece brake calipers from Extreme Design. This brake system allows the car to stop from 124 mph in only 397 feet.

Also, it weighs 242.5 pounds less than the standard F12, as Ferrari radically redesigned the body, engine, interior, running gear and transmission, as well as used carbon fiber extensively.

The tweaks to its gearbox allow 6 percent shorter gear ratios, delivering 30 percent faster upshifts and 40 percent faster downshifts. The F12tdf's aerodynamic capability also has been upped from 271 pounds to a whopping 507 pounds.

As of now, Ferrari has not announced the F12tdf's price tag, but what we do know is that only 799 units will be manufactured.
