Microsoft is really pushing Windows 10 and wants its latest Windows OS to take majority of the market share for desktops and laptops. Redmond wants more bites out of Cupertino's Mac OS X's piece of the market and is currently running a promotion that sweetens the switch to Windows 10.

When Windows 10 was released a couple of months ago, 14 million downloads were listed during the first day alone. Recently, it was reported that Windows 10 is running 110 million devices across the globe, which it noted as the hottest release among its OS offerings.

Microsoft gave Windows 8, 8.1 and Windows 7 users a free upgrade to Windows 10 — even pirated copies of operating systems got a free upgrade. The move allowed Windows 10 to cannibalize its predecessor's piece of the pie. With a steady supply of users on previous OS versions upgrading to Windows 10, Microsoft now wants its latest creation to consume Apple's.

The Washington-based technology company is offering as much as a $300 rebate to anyone who's willing to bring in a MacBook with a 13-inch display or bigger and grab a new Windows 10 PC that is valued at $599 or more from the Microsoft store. Bringing in laptops, which are either running on genuine Windows 8.1 and Windows 7, will score the owners a $200 rebate. Both trade-in rewards are part of Microsoft's "Easy Trade Up" promotion.

Microsoft has previously ran similar promotions, which offered iPad and MacBook Air owners $200 and $650 if they decide to trade in their devices for a Surface Pro 3. And it's not limited to Apple's products. The company also offered PS3 owners a $100 rebate if they trade it in for an Xbox One.

Those who want to take advantage of the rebates need to first purchase the device from the Microsoft Store and submit the trade-in claim within two weeks of the purchase date. After Microsoft receives an eligible device, the rebate will get sent within 28 days of when the claim was filed.

Easy Trade Up is currently available for the U.S.,U.K., Canada, Brazil, Germany, France, Taiwan and India. Microsoft's promotion is scheduled to go live on Oct. 20.
