If you are one of the people who watched "American Sniper" and laughed at Bradley Cooper's attempt to cradle the plastic bundle of joy in the film, you are not alone. Even Cooper, who played Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, thought it was silly. Nevertheless, the Academy Award-nominee fondly recalled the day the scene was filmed.

On Oct. 19, Ellen Degeneres welcomed Bradley Cooper on her self-titled entertainment show and shared a clip from her interview with Cooper's "American Sniper" co-star, Sienna Miller. The clip showed Miller fondly remembering shooting the scene where Kyle was cradling their infant. Miller was also seen laughing at how obvious Cooper moved his thumb to make the plastic doll's arm move, in an attempt to add some life to it.

"I fell in love with that plastic thing," Cooper told Ellen after their bout of laughter from watching the clip in the film. Cooper also said that before shooting the scene, he jokingly told the crew that he would save them $100,000 in visual effects. He also laughed at how he maintained character and stayed "dead serious" even as he wiggled his thumbs to move the fake baby's arm.

Prior to that, Ellen showed Cooper a clip of her Oct. 13 interview with Sienna Miller who brought up the fake baby scene and was also laughing at the video clip. "Look, you're judging him right there," Ellen joked, provoking laughter from both Miller in the clip and Cooper, who was sitting in front of her. "I love that! It's true," Cooper laughed.

Ellen revealed that the reason "American Sniper" opted to use a fake baby was because director Clint Eastwood said that real babies are unpredictable and that using a doll would save time.
