In a nice homage to novelist Tim Robbins' Even Cowgirls Get the Blues, the CW's fourth episode of iZombie's second season is titled "Even Cowgirls Get the Black and Blues"—and true to form, the promo for next week's episode promises to bring some countrified hijinks.

Despite a lack of Big Bad ex-zombie and fan favorite Blaine in last night's episode "Real Dead Housewife of Seattle," iZombie fans got a substitute twofer: the return of former-ish BFF Peyton (Aly Michalka)—who disappeared from Seattle after discovering Liv's (Rose McIver) secret (zombie) identity—and the appearance of the even Bigger Bad, the corporation Max Rager. While it's unclear in the trailer whether both will play a huge roll in "Even Cowgirls Get the Black and Blues," we can surmise that the episode features a murderer-of-the-week who targets country singers, and Liv stepping up on stage to try her hand at being a little bit country (and a little bit rock 'n' roll).

As for the juxtaposition of homicide and some honky-tonk tunes? As Ravi says, "Love and murder—country song staples."

iZombie airs at 9 p.m. EDT Tuesday nights on The CW.
