Fans will get to experience the biggest international music event of the year, the 2015 EMAs, in a fully immersive way.

MTV announced on Friday, Oct. 23, that it will live stream this year's European Music Awards in 360-degree virtual reality.

Viewers with a VR viewer such as Google's Cardboard headset will be able to download the MTV EMA app for iOS and Android and feel like they are at the event themselves, as they get to explore the red carpet preshow and main event and get up close and personal with their favorite celebrities in real time. Those without VR viewers will also be able to view the show from all angels thanks to the 360-degree camera that will film the music event.

"We are always looking at new ways to engage our audience and push boundaries," Viacom International president and CEO Bob Bakish said in a statement. "The MTV EMAs are one of the biggest nights of the year for us globally, so it makes sense to immerse viewers in this event live via virtual reality."

Viewers will be able to choose where to look throughout the event, which will be hosted by singer Ed Sheeran and co-hosted by Ruby Rose (Orange is the New Black), with performances by Ellie Goulding, Jason Derulo, Pharrell Williams, Justin Bieber, and Sheeran.

MTV previously live-streamed the 2015 Video Music Awards using VR technology to provide 360-degree views of the event.

MTV also announced it's teaming up with Instagram to host a backstage booth to provide fans with exclusive images and video loops using Instagram's new Boomerang app.

The 2015 EMAs will broadcast live at 8 p.m. EDT Sunday, Oct. 25, from the Mediolanum Forum in Milan, Italy.
