Resident Evil 4 is by far the most popular entry in Capcom's long-running survival horror franchise. It single-handedly reinvigorated the franchise into the more action-oriented beast it is today.

It's no surprise then that the game has been re-released numerous times over the years since its debut on the Nintendo GameCube. The game has also been released on the PlayStation 2, Wii and most recently, PC.

Now, the Wii U can be added to that list, but don't get your hopes up. Resident Evil 4 is coming to the Wii U eShop on Feb. 4, as announced by Nintendo in a new trailer for the game. There is, however, a catch.

This isn't the Ultimate HD edition that released on PC two years ago. Instead, the Wii U is getting the non-HD, motion control-based Resident Evil 4 for the Wii. One look at the trailer and it becomes obvious, but Nintendo states as much in the video's title as well.

It makes sense, of course. Why would Capcom and Nintendo not release the Wii version on the Wii U? However, for fans who might want to actually use the Wii U's graphical power and HD output, to be getting the Wii version of the game is a little disappointing.

It's especially disappointing considering Capcom's recently been hard at work with new HD versions of classic Resident Evil games, having just released an HD remastering of Resident Evil 0. Capcom is also working on a complete remake of Resident Evil 2, the game that introduces Resident Evil 4 star Leon S. Kennedy to the world of Umbrella and flesh-craving zombies.

Regardless, Resident Evil 4 is definitely worth your time if you've never taken it for a spin. The game still holds up great today, even if the visuals are a little fuzzier than most gamers are accustomed to nowadays.
