Bungie officially unveiled Destiny 2 last week, revealing a Sept. 8 release date for the game and that it will be coming to the PC, in addition to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

With Destiny 2 now on its way, Destiny players had no clue on how long support for the first game will continue. Bungie has now answered the question, just as more details have leaked regarding the sequel to the sci-fi shooter.

Bungie Will Continue Support For 'Destiny'

According to Bungie Community Manager DeeJ, Destiny will still be available for players even as the developer shifts its focus to Destiny 2.

"We've planned to support it for the foreseeable future, so while we do have a sense of finality and closure as the theme of this [Age of Triumph] event, we are by no means turning the lights off on Destiny 1," DeeJ said.

As such, players should not yet worry about having to drop playing the game and focus solely on Destiny 2 once it launches.

DeeJ continues to say that Destiny will continue to be accessible for players who would like to revisit the universe created in the predecessor of Destiny 2. Destiny will still also be available for new players who will start with Destiny 2 but would like to know more of how things came about in the first Destiny.

It is not likely that Bungie will be creating more updates and content for Destiny, but it is seems to be clear that Bungie will not be pulling the plug on Destiny any time soon. This is great news for Destiny veterans, especially as they will be able to revisit their characters and all the hard work that they have put into the game.

'Destiny 2' DLC Details Leak

The announcement that Destiny will continue to receive support comes just as more details about its successor, Destiny 2, have leaked.

Images of documents received by GameStop regarding Destiny 2 have surfaced, revealing official answers to some of the more commonly asked questions regarding Destiny 2. One of the questions being answered is what players can carry over from Destiny to Destiny 2, confirming that only cosmetic details will be transferred such as gender, looks, and race, but not levels, currency, weapons, and gear.

This is why it is important that Bungie will continue support for Destiny, so that players will be able to use their hard-earned weapons and gear again when they take a rest from Destiny 2, where all players will start off with a clean slate.

Details regarding the Expansion Pass for Destiny 2 have also leaked, revealing that the first two major DLCs for the game that the Expansion Pass will grant access to will be released in the winter of this year and in the spring of 2018. Both expansions, as expected, will add more story missions, gear, weapons, cooperative actions, and competitive multiplayer content to Destiny 2.

The documents also highlight the fact that players who preorder Destiny 2 though GameStop will not only receive early access to the beta version of the game, but will also receive limited edition figurines of Cayde-6, the comical Hunter featured in the teaser video for the game and its reveal trailer.
