Rumors on the first details of the next Assassin's Creed game have emerged, claiming that the next entry in the franchise will take place in ancient Greece.

The rumors added that the new Assassin's Creed game will not be released this year, as it has an expected release date of 2019.

Next 'Assassin's Creed' Game In Ancient Greece

According to a report by Comicbook's Liam Robertson, the next Assassin's Creed game follows the trend among the titles in the series of information leaking before the official announcements.

The next Assassin's Creed game will take place in ancient Greece, Robertson wrote, citing several anonymous sources who are linked to Ubisoft. This will follow the ancient Egypt setting of the current entry in the franchise, Assassin's Creed: Origins.

Robertson added that the rumor should be taken with a pinch of salt despite good corroboration among multiple sources. However, the information coincides with reports from early on in the development of Assassin's Creed: Origins that ancient Greece will also make an appearance, but ancient Egypt will be the focus. The sources then later said that ancient Greece will be moved out of the game and into the next game, which is apparently precisely what happened, if this new rumor is true.

Robertson noted that Ubisoft may have already provided a hint last year for the next setting of Assassin's Creed. In August 2017, Assassin's Creed art director Raphael Lacoste tweeted a picture from a recent trip to Greece, which may have functioned both as a vacation and as an ocular of real-world locations.

Gamers who are excited for the Assassin's Creed franchise to move to ancient Greece, however, will have to wait a while. The next game entered production last year, but it is planned to launch in the fall of 2019.

What's Next After 'Assassin's Creed: Origins'?

Robertson noted that one of the sources for the ancient Greece setting provided correct information on Assassin's Creed: Origins, including its title, setting, and art from a T-shirt.

Assassin's Creed: Origins, when it was unveiled in 2017 after weeks of leaks, was already tagged as a game that would revamp the Assassin's Creed franchise. Assassin's Creed: Origins also amazingly predicted a newly discovered hidden chamber in the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt.

With ancient Greece coming next after ancient Egypt, the franchise appears to be retelling the early days of the Assassins Brotherhood. Gamers are now looking forward to how Assassin's Creed will look like in ancient Greece, while another action franchise, God of War, moves away from Greek mythology and into Norse mythology.
