In an interesting turn of events, Meebits has just topped Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) in terms of 24-hour volume. With 6,107 owners, its total assets now number to 20,000.
The interesting part of this story is that BAYC purchased them just recently.
What Happened to ApeCoin?
Despite what recently happened with ApeCoin, BAYC's token that fell to the ground almost instantly, the BAYC has still gone up by 6.8% in the last 24 hours. An article by CoinTelegraph tackles whether or not the APE coin really fell by 80% during its launch.
According to the article, BAYC owners were able to claim 2k APE per non-fungible token (NFT) they own. This means that only 80 of them would be able to swap their new ApeCoins for the price of $28k due to the $45 million TVL on Uniswap.
The article states that the coin actually fell just 12% from its peak and only reflected an 80% because of the gas fees, transaction fees, and movement of the coin through DEXs and CEXs.
BAYC, Yuga Labs Buys Meebits and CryptoPunks
According to a March 11 article by Yahoo Finance, BAYC's company, Yuga Labs, just purchased Meebits and CryptoPunks from Larva Labs. Now, when looking at the chart on CoinGecko, Meebits sits at the top while Bored Ape Yacht Club sits at the second place when ranked with other NFTs.
CryptoPunks, another one of Yuga Labs' purchases, sat at 8th spot with a market cap of 7,24,927.5 Ethereum (ETH). With three NFT projects in the top 10 (namely Meebits, BAYC, and CryptoPunks), Yuga Labs has more hold over the top 10 NFTs on CoinGecko.
