"Artistic and cinematic look"

The brand new camera comes in light of sports productions, opting for a more "artistic and cinematic look" to broadcast live events, HDC F5500 will enable this feature with its Super 35mm 4K CMOS sensor.

Sony on their website said that this feature is particularly special because it, "delivers extraordinary clarity, realism, and shallow depth of field with every scene, from wide beauty shots to tight close-ups."

Multiple workflow enhancements such as IP networking, remote multi-camera operation, and in-CCU recording were also highlighted in order to improve "live entertainment productions for sport, music, and drama."

According to a report by Broadcast Now, the chief engineer of BT Sport, Andy Beale, said, "when it comes to sporting events, we're constantly seeking to try out the latest technologies to improve on our existing workflows and deliver a world-class viewing experience."

"High visibility events like the fight between Tyson Fury and Dillian Whyte are the perfect setting to trial new cameras in a live context," the chief engineer added.

Norbert Paquet, Europe for Sony's head of live production solution, imaging products, and solutions, also said that the new live system camera serves as a continuity of other HDC camera systems.

"The demand for a more artistic look in Live Production and enhanced operational workflow while working with 4K, HDR, Super 35mm sensors were key drivers in the development of the HDC-F5500, making it an easy fit to any Live Sports & Events Productions alongside other HDC Camera Systems," Paquet said.

The highly anticipated boxing match will witness the HDC-F5500 connect to the existing camera infrastructure within the EMG UK OB van with minimal engineering effort.

At the same time, the HDCU-5500 will output the live images of UHD Slog3 towards the entirety of the production chain. Lastly, the images will be eventually transmitted to the home via BT Sport's infrastructure.
