iOS 15 and iOS 16, which Apple released last month, have impressively advanced performance and features. And, as an avid user, you might be questioning what to install and stick with.

To aid with your decision, learn whether or not one system is superior to another. Get familiar with the features of each update and choose which is better depending on your preferences and requirements.

One of these updates, as reported by Forbes, is required for your mobile device's security. That is because cybercriminals are already taking advantage of 11 flaws fixed in iOS 15 and iOS 16. The other ten flaws addressed by the updates are also significant and might be utilized in conjunction to take complete control of your device.

But why were these systems released almost at the same time? Should you even update your iPhone's software?

What's With iOS 15?

Based on Forbes' report, two factors prompted Apple to release the new version of iOS 15.

The first is that Apple has seen many iPhone users postpone installing the latest version of iOS to prevent potential security issues. As a result, it seems that the company plans to continue releasing iOS 15 updates, at least temporarily, similar to how it handled iOS 14 last year. That is excellent news for those who still use iPhones that cannot upgrade to iOS 16.

The second reason is that Apple considered the previously exploited security problem critical enough to merit an upgrade.

What's With iOS 16?

Apple's newest operating system, iOS 16, adds a ton of awesome capabilities to the iPhone. The option to retract sent messages and emails, Passkeys, and Safety Check are all top-notch features.

Lockdown Mode, if you are interested in trying it out, is a new feature in iOS 16 that makes your iPhone very resistant to attacks but also almost useless.

iOS 15 vs. iOS 16: Lock Screen

iOS 16's lock screen changes after rebooting, and it is more advanced, MacRumors reported.

Swipe between lock screens with colors, typefaces, and widgets, like how you customize an Apple Watch face. You may create custom widgets and add up to four mini widgets below the clock.

'Live Activities' monitor sports games and alerts, and the 'Now Playing' panel is near the bottom for easy thumb access.

iOS 15 vs. iOS 16: Mail and Messages

Mail in iOS 16 is finally catching up with other applications with options like scheduled send, 'undo send,' and more, TechRadar said. These enhancements apply to macOS Ventura and iPadOS 16, as well.

Compared to the typically reliable email app in iOS 15 and earlier versions of iOS, it becomes clear how many exciting email possibilities were missed. Besides, iOS 16 seems to simplify mail management.

This year, Apple has also focused on the Messages app, which lets you amend or erase a message up to 15 minutes after sending it. There is also an update on collaboration features.

In Apple's productivity suite, Pages and Numbers, you may invite someone to collaborate on a project and see their activities in Messages. This is another major upgrade this year, along with iOS 16's 30-day message recovery.

iOS 15 vs. iOS 16: Photos

According to TechRadar, iOS 16 is a little upgrade compared to iOS 15, but it's full of subtle changes that will make a huge impact.

iOS 16 adds password-protected albums, duplicate picture detection, featured content turnoff, and more to the Photos app.

iCloud Photo Library is also new, as it lets you share a library with your family and save photos from the Camera app straight to this folder. Editing a picture, for instance, will update everyone's shared album.

iOS 15 vs. iOS 16: App Support and Bug Patches

Any software might be sluggish to update with the newest iOS, and even financial applications are notoriously slow. iPhone accessories that require apps may also be impacted if they have not been updated for iOS 16.

If app support for iOS 16 bothers you or you know of key applications that have not been updated, you should stick with iOS 15 until the issues are resolved.

iOS 15, which has been bug-fixed for a year, is expected to be more stable and trustworthy than the most recent operating system. iOS 16 has not had any serious flaws yet, although the initial releases of any large new OS sometimes have minor bugs.
