Meta AI delivered a new database which it gathered and used its technology to create the ESM Metagenomic Atlas, discovering millions of "dark matter" proteins. The social media company said that it is the first database in the world to bring this for all, centering on the metagenomic structures of the protein universe.

The company said that this discovery will bring many uses in looking for answers including fields of evolutionary science to see the mysteries behind it, as well as a cure for diseases in medicine.

Meta's AI team posted a blog post that details its success in creating the first-ever ESM Metagenomic Atlas, a database that brings a record of more than 600 million metagenomic structures.

The proteins which Meta examined with its AI are said to be the "least understood proteins on Earth," with the company aiming to know them more.

These proteins or metagenomic structures are found in common places like the soil and ground, as well as human bodies and the oceans that surround the planet. Essentially, these proteins are known as building blocks of the world, and the company's AI aims to help know them more for further use and knowledge of the past.

Meta and its AI Focus

One of the many needs to create the metaverse is the powerful machine-learning artificial intelligence which the Meta company is famous for, one of its massive focuses in its shift to the digital world. Meta AI is regarded to be one of the most significant building blocks of the metaverse, something that helps detail the features.

During Meta Connect and other events of the company, its team and CEO Mark Zuckerberg regarded AI to be a massive help in creating its future goals and products.

One of the first applications of Meta's AI is to help its social media platforms discern fake news and misinformation more efficiently, those that are proliferating online.

The technology helps identify what to flag and raise concerns from those who uploaded or shared the information online and join the company in its content moderation for the feed.

Now, Meta's AI has more applications that the company set its eyes on, particularly with its focus on the protein universe which is present in many aspects of the world. Moreover, it centers on the metagenomic structures which will help in the future of medicine and learning more about humans' past, helping in the world's needs.
