Honda's 2023 Accord features Google apps, built-in into its infotainment system.

The arrival of these apps is quite notable as this is the first time the giant Japanese automaker is offering them right off the bat.

And as such, the upcoming mid-size sedan offers apps like the Google Play Store right away.

Honda Accord 2023 Gains Built-in Google Apps

As per the latest news story by Engadget, the first-ever Honda car to offer built-in Google apps is the 2023 Accord Touring variant.

The Japanese carmaker announced that Google's first-party services are on their way to the next-generation mid-size sedan. Given that, buyers can now get their hands on apps like Google Maps after getting it from the dealership. It essentially upgrades the infotainment system of the upcoming Accord.

With these built-in apps, its users could simply download their favorite apps using the Google Play Store. Previously, if Honda owners wanted to do this, they would have to use their phones to install them.

Not to mention that the infotainment system already offers essential apps. It includes Google Maps, which most of us use to navigate when driving on unfamiliar roads. It also offers Assistant, allowing drivers to keep their hands on the wheels.

According to a report by Motor Trend, it is not the first instance that a carmaker offered built-in Google apps. In fact, Volvo recently brought these services to its new vehicles, including the 2022 XC60.

It is worth noting that these built-in apps come with a price. Accord Touring owners reportedly need to pay for a monthly data plan. However, Honda kept mum about its pricing. So it remains to be seen if it is going to be affordable.

But how about Apple fanboys? Do sweat it, ya'll. The Accord still has Apple CarPlay, but only the Touring supports wireless connection.

Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are Also Available

The Japanese carmaker revealed that Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are making their way to all 2023 Accord trims.

However, the top-of-the-line Touring variant lets users ditch their wires while using CarPlay and Android Auto.

So if you are an iPhone user and do not really mind checking out these built-in Google apps, you could take advantage of the Apple CarPlay.

But given that there are no built-in Apple apps here, users will still need to rely on their phones in downloading the software they want to use.
