Google's Android Auto rolls out its redesign for all, and this update will allow users to experience new features on the platform to improve their drive. One of the most noticeable changes here is the split-screen feature that allows multiple apps to appear on the display and allow users to manage various experiences on one page.

The Android Auto redesign was previously revealed by the company on the famed Google showcase, I/O 2022, but took a long time before its actual rollout to the public.

Since I/O 2022, Google has only allowed public beta users to experience the new "Coolwalk" UI, and this is the name for the latest version of Android Auto's experience for all. However, in Google's recent announcement, users may now update their systems to get the latest smartphone experience in their infotainment system.

There are three focuses that Android Auto is prioritizing for the split-screen display feature. First is the navigation experience, the communication feature, and media & entertainment via connected apps.

Maps will be closer to the driver, and this means that they will be on the majority of the left-side screen for the United States. The right side of the screen will be split horizontally in half, with the top part for communication apps like Google Messages and others, and the lower part will feature a quick-access music player.

Android Auto's new Coolwalk will also adapt to the available screen layout for one's car, may it be a widescreen, landscape, or portrait.

Google's Update for Cars

Apart from the Android Auto upgrade, Google is also adding digital keys for compatible cars on the Pixel device, and claims that users may share it with the iPhone. Introduced last December, this feature is available for users now, where they can lock and unlock their vehicle, and share the key with family and friends.

For now, BMW offers support for digital car keys, but will soon expand to other brands. Additionally, Samsung and Xiaomi users will also get support later this year.

Google's Android Auto

The car radio has improved drastically over the past years, and it is changing for the better, to accommodate more of the needs and requirements of modern-day drivers in their journeys. Since the dawn of the smartphone era, people have been immersed in the device, and Bluetooth is not entirely cutting the connections from the phone to the radio.

Since Google introduced Android Auto, there have been massive changes to the experience, including new apps to help one's drive in navigation and other helpful features.

On the other hand, Google has discontinued allowing users to access Android Auto via smartphones and transfers everything on the car's infotainment system's display.

With the growing technology that people see today, the modernization of previous experiences also takes a drastic turn for the better, even for the automotive industries. Google is a massive provider in the smartphone OS, but also made its way to cars, Android Auto's recent update allows people to fully maximize their screens to improve their on-road experiences.
