Amazon's LEO internet satellites are finally approved by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

The communications regulatory organization released a document on Wednesday, Feb. 8, confirming the grant for Amazon's Ka-band Kuiper satellites.
"After review of the record, we find Kuiper's orbital debris mitigation plan to be sufficiently developed to support deployment of its NGSO satellite system," said the FCC via its official grant document.
Amazon LEO Internet Satellites Approved by FCC
According to SpaceNews' latest report, the FCC allowed over 3,200 Amazon Kuiper satellites to be launched.

The FCC said that it gave the go-signal because Amazon provided the needed updated orbital debris mitigation plan.
The Federal Communications Commission added that the arrival of the new Amazon internet satellites would greatly benefit the public.
By allowing the Kuiper broadband satellites to be deployed, people can have high-speed internet connectivity. As of writing, Amazon expects its Project Kuiper to be launched in early 2023.
The e-commerce giant said that they will launch two prototype satellites using the new Vulcan Centaur rocket of the United Launch Alliance (ULA).
The company added that the first Kuiper satellite launch will happen aat the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida. However, Amazon hasn't confirmed the exact launch date yet.
What FCC Wants
Amazon received the FCC's conditional approval under certain conditions. The communications regulator said that once the e-commerce launches its LEO internet satellites, semi-annual reports should be provided.
These documents need to detail the collision avoidance maneuvers conducted by the Kuiper rockets. The FCC said that the reports need to indicate if the Amazon internet satellites were able to steer away from objects or not.
