The world of gaming is still considerate to those who have not yet upgraded to the modern generation consoles available in the market, particularly with Activision Blizzard's "Call of Duty" franchise. The new reports claim that until its 2024 release, the "Call of Duty" games would still arrive on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles, despite their old age.

Unlike other games in the present now where their experience is gatekept for next-gen or modern-gen consoles only, this would not be the case for one of the most famous action shooter games in the industry.

Insider Gaming's latest report claims that Activision Blizzard would continue to release games for the PS4 and Xbox One, focusing on the "Call of Duty" franchise titles.

There is a planned AAA-rated game from Activision which remains under the codename "Cerberus," the next franchise installment that would feature an original story and not a remake.

In the past transition of consoles, from PS3 to PS4, and Xbox 360 to Xbox One, Activision Blizzard went on to release games in four years before becoming exclusive to the next-gen.

When applied to the present, it may mean that Activision would do it from 2020 until 2024, before gatekeeping these games on specific consoles only.

Next-Gen Exclusivity Not Yet a Thing for Activision

As per ComicBook Gaming, while there are no indications yet from the "Call of Duty" franchise regarding their exclusive releases to current-gen consoles, it does not mean that there is a guarantee for future releases to still arrive on older gaming machines.

There is a growing concern regarding this transition, especially as it considers the old consoles' capabilities to run games, making it a hindrance for "COD" games to bring better quality to its gamers in the next-gen platforms.

Activision Blizzard's 'Call of Duty' Franchise

Activision Blizzard brought the world the latest games of the franchise with its back-to-back release in 2022, one which centers on the current generation remake of the "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II." Gamers are now enjoying the most advanced graphics there is to the game, paired with their console or rig's capabilities to deliver the best experience possible.

When playing "Modern Warfare II" or the controversial "Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0," gamers cannot help to notice the experience it brings, as well as the improvements in textures, design, and its closeness to reality. However, it still faced significant comments from a famous influencer who dislikes the DMZ Mode, Dr. Disrespect.

Infinity Ward and Activision Blizzard sure worked hard in making the latest "Call of Duty" games top-notch in terms of story, graphics, content, and more. People who still do not have the budget to switch to current-gen consoles should not have to fear getting behind with the future of "Call of Duty," as it will still arrive to them claims insiders.
