The finest keyboard for gaming is more than just a source of satisfying clicks. It will be your primary companion - whether dodging bullets in a first-person shooter, hammering the W key to death while exploring a massive open world, or talking madly on Discord and Twitch.

Keyboards with rubber domes that complete a circuit when pushed are standard. Meanwhile, mechanical keyboards have individual switches per key, and metal springs are embedded.

Most gamers prefer mechanical keyboards because they are more responsive, they last longer, and they need less finger pressure to "spring" while being used for extended periods.

Having something aesthetically pleasing to pair with your equipment is also a big plus. A customizable per-key RGB is a nice touch!

We've compiled a quick list of the best keyboards for gamers in 2023, including options for hobbyists and pros.

Corsair K100 RGB Mechanical Keyboard

Reasons to buy? Corsair's K100 mechanical keyboard excels in design and functionality. ZDNet calls it the "best gaming mechanical keyboard overall."

Corsair's optical-mechanical keys and Axon technology improve reaction speeds by up to 8x compared to competing gaming keyboards. It also has an iCUE control wheel, macro keys, media controls, and a palm rest.

What's not to like? It's, indeed, pricey.

Razer BlackWidow V3 Pro

Reasons to buy? The Razer BlackWidow V3 Pro is a great wireless gaming keyboard for full-sized mechanical gaming. It has a quality tactile volume dial, media keys, an aluminum top plate, and doubleshot ABS plastic keycaps, unlike many travel-friendly wireless keyboards.

What's not to like? It's quite sensitive when the battery is low, and it has no macro keys.

HyperX Alloy Origins 65

Reasons to buy? HyperX's tiny mechanical keyboard is ideal for small desks. HyperX created a tiny keyboard with a full-size feel by concentrating on the typing area. RGB lighting lets you express yourself or match other HyperX peripherals

What's not to like? It has no media controls or macro keys. Tom's Hardware believes its NGenuity software could be simpler.

Asus ROG Azoth

Reasons to buy? The ROG Azoth is fantastic for typing and gaming due to its stable, low-latency 2.4GHz wireless connection and fast responsiveness. It also features a long battery life of up to 2,000 hours over 2.4GHz, with both lighting and the OLED screen turned off.

What's not to like? No one likes the Armoury Crate, and the keycaps seem to slide around a little.

Logitech G915 Lightspeed

Reasons to buy? With the Logitech G915 Lightspeed, PC Gamer assures you of getting a robust, brushed metal board. The keyboard has a few macro buttons on the left side and clever media controls in the top right corner, including a great-feeling volume dial.

Logitech G software lets you customize them per app or game.

What's not to like? The positioning of the macro keys may seem off to some. It has to be charged every few days, too.
