Apple is currently in the final stages of developing its updated 24-inch iMac, which is rumored to be scheduled for release in the latter half of 2023, a recent AppleInsider report tells us.

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman suggested in early January that Apple would delay the reboot of the iMac until the launch of M3 chips, with a potential launch date somewhere between very late 2023 and early 2024.

However, recent reports indicate that the release might take place earlier than expected.

Newest iMac Now Production Testing

Analyst and insider of note Mark Gurman's latest Power On Newsletter is all about the highly anticipated iMac reboot.

The new iMac, Gurman claims, has reached the engineering validation testing (EVT) stage, a late development stage that includes production testing.

This could indicate that the model is nearing completion and will be ready for mass production in at least three months.

Apple's New 24-inch iMac: In The Know

When Apple launched the redesigned iMac in 2021, it enhanced the all-in-one design with a variety of dual-color options and a larger, 11.5mm-thinner 24-inch display.

The new 24-inch iMac is anticipated to be the same size as the current model, with the same color palette, but with modifications to the stand and the relocation of some internal components.

AppleInsider notes that the iMac may be one of the first computers to use chips from the M3 generation if its development coincides with the chip's schedule.

Gurman has repeatedly asserted that Apple's M3 chip will be included in the next generation of 24-inch iMacs, making the M3-powered iMac more plausible than ever before.

According to rumors, the new chips will be manufactured using a new 3nm manufacturing process to boost performance and power efficiency. This chip should be an improvement over the M2, as it skipped a generation.

Apple has made significant progress in developing its own chips, abandoning Intel processors. The M3 chip is anticipated to be the most recent iteration of Apple's in-house chips, and the iMac may be among the first devices to use it.

In terms of pricing, Apple implemented a new iMac pricing in 2021, with the entry-level model costing $1,299, so it is safe to assume that a massive redesign would result in a slight price increase.

More from Recent Rumors

Gurman makes the claim that three new Macs will be released between late spring and summer alongside the iMac. The list includes the unconfirmed New MacBook Air with a 15-inch display, although previous rumors suggested a release in late 2023.

Gurman also mentions an updated 13-inch MacBook Air and the first Mac Pro with Apple Silicon. However, the latter is a long-rumored Mac that may not arrive in the near future due to its potentially complex chip configuration.

The iMac has been a mainstay of Apple's product line for many years, and customers eagerly await the latest refresh. The new iMac is expected to have a better design and performance thanks to the M3 chip.

This makes the iMac an excellent choice for those who need a powerful and dependable desktop computer for work or personal use.
