The Cupertino company has made it so for its beta testing program to determine the right software version for a certain Apple ID, with this new method to properly allocate which users are enrolled to, and are limited to install only that OS. This is now available on the latest macOS Ventura 13.4 and the watchOS 9.5 versions for its devices.

It is somehow similar to Netflix's account sharing crackdown, where users log in to a single account for different devices, and in Apple's case, allow the download of the right beta software one is registered to.

Apple recently made it so that a new beta software installer method for macOS and watchOS will determine the right version for developers and public beta testers. With this new method, users will no longer have the ability to share profiles across devices to access beta software or choose the other version for which they have not enrolled.

The new installer method will verify the user's Apple ID and determine whether they are enrolled in the Developer Beta program or the Public Beta program. Once verified, the user can simply download the beta software from the App Store or the Software Update section of System Preferences.

According to 9to5 Mac, this method is the same one present for iOS 16.4 and has now appeared for the likes of the latest betas of the macOS and watchOS.

Public Beta or Developer Beta? Register for the Right One

With this new installer method, Apple is limiting users to choosing only the right program for them, whether they want to participate as a developer or a public beta tester under this beta experience.

There are differences between the two, as developer betas arrive earlier for testing, and well, the development of these companies or apps to integrate into Apple's latest software. Moreover, developers see a more rigid experience with many untested features in it.

On the other hand, the public beta program features the software to be closer to the final release, with an enhanced experience that is near the complete version of the OS.

Users only get a chance to participate in one, and this can be done by assessing what one wants to see and experience, to register for the applicable one for you.

Apple's Beta Testing Program

Apple continues to focus on improving its software and user experience across all its products.

With the new installer method, the company is making an effort to streamline the process of accessing beta software and making it more accessible to a wider range of specific users.

The new installer method is a welcome development for developers and public beta testers alike. It promises to simplify the process of accessing beta software and eliminate the changing preferences of users who share profiles across multiple devices.

As Apple continues to innovate and improve its software offerings, this move is just one of many that are likely to enhance the user experience and make Apple products even more appealing to consumers.
