Apple is presently working on several updates for its wildly successful AirPods headphones in an attempt to grow its wearables business and integrate incredible health features.

Apple's AirPods changed the wireless earphone industry, and its newest innovation continues to advance. AirPods Pro 2 (2nd Generation) enhances its predecessors' defining features. These earbuds boast a 2x improvement in noise-canceling performance.

With the AirPods Pro 2, Apple concentrated on providing an exceptional audio experience. The iPhone's TrueDepth camera feature enables AirPods to have customized spatial audio sound, and adding a new bespoke amp and driver guarantees enhanced lower and higher frequencies, per Tom's Guide.

Longer battery life is another something customers can anticipate, and the charging case has been improved with water resistance and a built-in microphone to assist in finding it if lost.

Health Monitoring Features

Additionally, Apple has big ambitions for the AirPods' future, researching advancements in body temperature tracking, hearing health, and switching to USB-C charging connectors. New AirPods Pro and Max versions will be released with these improvements and previously mentioned software upgrades.

Apple is investigating the AirPods' potential as a hearing aid substitute and trying to strengthen its position in the audio industry. The business has already released features that mimic the capabilities of hearing aids, such as Conversation Boost and Live Listen.

Apple aims to include a hearing test feature by building on current audiogram support, thereby eliminating the need for third-party applications like Mimi, according to The Verge. This action fits Apple's reputation for "Sherlocking," or incorporating well-liked features and applications into its operating system.

The company has employed engineers from hearing aid makers to improve these products while awaiting regulatory clearance.

It's interesting to note that Apple is even looking at adding sensors to AirPods to check the wearer's body temperature via the ear canal. This information is said to be more precise than wrist temperature, which is presently gathered by Apple Watch Series 8 and Ultra versions. Expanding health monitoring features will allow customers to monitor prospective ailments like colds, according to Bloomberg.

While some of these capabilities may not be available for a while, Apple has more urgent upgrades. The charging case for the AirPods Pro will switch from Lightning to USB-C along with the iPhone 15's other hardware changes. Apple's audio devices are also anticipated to integrate USB-C connection in future versions.

AirPods Price Drop

Apple is also considering lowering its entry-level AirPods' cost to remain competitive. At $129, the second-generation AirPods continue to provide exceptional performance; however, a price cut to $99 would make them an even more attractive choice and a strong competitor to other brands.

Recently, Apple became the first $3 trillion corporation. With 15.7 billion outstanding shares after Friday's share price increase of 1% to $191.34, the tech behemoth now has a record market value, per a previous TechTimes report. Apple's stock has risen due to its risky launch of the Apple Vision Pro, an augmented reality device that received positive reviews from tech media professionals.
