Did Your iPhone Reboot On Its Own Last Night? There Might Be an Existing Bug
(Photo: Mia Baker from Unsplash) A Reddit post claimed that his iPhone suddenly shut off for four hours. However, it's not only limited to new iPhone models.

Is your iPhone passcode screen greeting you unexpectedly after a mysterious overnight restart? Well, you're not the only one experiencing that.

Many iPhone users have encountered this perplexing situation, with the added twist that their battery level data indicates their phone powered down for a significant period.

Unusual iPhone Behavior

It's troubling to wake up to your iPhone demanding a passcode after an apparent overnight restart. For some users, like Zac Hall of 9to5Mac, this manifested as Face ID not functioning until the passcode was entered due to the restart. Although it's uncommon for the iPhone to resort to this soft crash, it's worth noting that everyone who will experience this will surely bat an eye.

Upon further investigation, a Reddit post suddenly emerged where an individual claimed his iPhone had shut off for several hours during the night.

According to the post, he checked his battery level history in the Settings app, and to his surprise, he observed a similar blip. At this time, he concluded that he was not the only one who was facing a similar issue with an iPhone.

After the commotion on Reddit, more users shared their experiences on the X platform.

Not Exclusive to iPhone 15

These occurrences aren't exclusive to users of the latest iPhone models. What unites those affected, for now, is the timing of the event - it all occurred overnight.

According to 9to5Mac, the author writes that the iPhone 15 Pro Max running iOS 17.0.3 since its release, had no battery charge optimizations enabled.

He said that he charged it using MagSafe and had encountered some minor system hangs, particularly after app updates. Other users noted similar occurrences with a range of iPhone models.

An Ongoing Mystery

The question on everyone's mind is whether the iPhone genuinely powered down for several hours before rebooting. At first, you might be skeptical as to why it is happening because you can't confirm the phone's activity at that time.

The next time you encounter this problem with your iPhone, you can go to the Settings of your smartphone, and then click Battery. After that, tap "Last 24 Hours" to check the battery level chart of your device.

iPhone Reboot Not Only iPhone's 15 Problem

Aside from the recent issue of iPhone reboot, there's another problem that bugs iPhone 15 users.

Earlier this month, several sources reported that wireless charging of iPhone 15 in BMWs can likely result in overheating.

Because of the incident, Tom's Guide urged the users to temporarily ditch BMW's wireless charging pad.

The iPhone 15 lineup is not the only affected model of this charging issue. Even the iPhone 12 Pro Max and iPhone 14 Pro Max are encountering problems with the Tesla Qi charger and Audi wireless charger, respectively.
