A new update on the Rivian iOS app is here, and it allows its owners to know their EV's range right on the iPhone's lock screen as a new widget arrives.

Through this feature, users no longer have to open their devices and the app to learn more about the remaining charge and range of their Rivian electric vehicles on the lock screen, which is customizable to their preferences.

Modern technology and the latest EVs have provided the world with a connected experience that delegates more car information on smart devices.

RivianTrackr, a renowned analyst of the car manufacturer's latest developments, released a discovery on Rivian's iOS app, which displays the EV's remaining range and battery percentage on the iPhone's lock screen.

It takes advantage of the latest iOS version's Widgets, offering an indicator connected to the Rivian app that shows the vehicle's status.

This was included in Rivian's iOS app version 2.8.0, which was released earlier today. The release notes are available here

While it is a small update, it brings the Rivian app's lock screen widget to the iPhone, following the Live Activies update last February.

Rivian and its Electric Vehicle Developments

Like Tesla and other EV car manufacturers, Rivian is one to bring significant features to its dedicated smartphone apps, particularly with iOS.

Its many developments in its electric vehicles offer a connected experience to their devices, with massive features centered on current releases like the R1T and R1S electric cars.

The company also recently launched its upcoming electric vehicle models, the first next-gen development of the company with the R2.

It was revealed to be a new compact electric SUV that features a five-seater configuration and offers 330 miles of estimated range. It will be available in two years, with 2026 as its expected availability to its markets.

Smartphone connectivity is a massive plus in today's car technology industry, and manufacturers ensure that these experiences are available even when not using the EV.

In Rivian's case, its iOS app now offers more functionalities to help users monitor their cars better. From the previous Live Activities update, it now offers Widgets to determine range and battery.
