What to Expect from the Rivian R2 EV?

According to the leaked code, the Rivian R2 will already feature a NACS port, but can also charge in CCS stations, yet remains unknown if this would be via a connector. R2 owners may also add accessories based on their needs including a snap-on provision for a bike mount that needs no tools.

Its rear glass would also be powered, meaning users may open and close this via its switch. It offers a 9.8-inch maximum ground clearance, 32-inch wheel and tire diameter, 25-degree approach angle, and 27-degree departure angle.

Rivian's Electric Vehicle Development

One of the distinctions of Rivian in the current automotive industry is its hardships and challenges in producing its electric vehicles, particularly as the company struggled throughout the years with its manufacturing. Last Q3 2023, the company was able to produce 16,304 vehicles which surpassed the expectations set on them, looking towards getting their brand out of the slump.

The company also recently named Jonas Reinke to be part of the team, best known for his stint as a former Apple head of Product for Automotive and Mobility, and his work with Porsche. This was an important onboarding for Rivian as it is known for its struggles, with Reinke looking to help the company develop the future R2 and R3 electric car ventures.

Rivian initially teased the R2 electric car earlier this year, claiming that its event will commence by March 7 to unveil its latest development for the world to see. However, there has been a slipup on Rivian's end, particularly with the information about the R2 available on its source code, giving sleuths a chance to share the information to the world about its new electric SUV with a 330-mile range and $47,000 starting price.
