Titanfall's launch may have pushed through but a problem with the Xbox Live servers proved disappointing for many Xbox One owners.

The highly anticipated launch of Titanfall pushed through at the stroke of midnight on March 11. While things proceeded smoothly during the first few hours of the launch, a nasty hiccup involving "Xbox Live Core Services" meant the many gamers were left hanging for a significant part of Titanfall's launch day.

"Looks like Xbox live sign in is down currently. I hope that isn't our fault!" said Respawn founder Vince Zampella.

While the server problems proved disappointing for many gamers, launching online multiplayer games are often plagued with these types of problems.

The problem was related to Xbox Live's log in servers, which were marked as "Limited" for a number of hours. This essentially means that many gamers who purchased Titanfall ended up with an unplayable game, at least for the duration of the error. While Microsoft has not released any information tying its server problems to Titanfall's launch, the fact that a large number of would be Titanfall players tried to log-in to Xbox Live servers at the same time may have played a part in the malfunction.

Later during the day, Microsoft was able to sort out the server problems and many players were able to access the game.

"Thanks for your patience, Xbox Live is good to go!" said Xbox Support in a tweet.

However, Xbox support recommended that affected gamers should power cycle their consoles to get everything running smoothly. Microsoft issued the following instructions:

"Follow these steps to power cycle your Xbox One Console:

1. While the console is on, press and hold the console's Xbox button for 5 seconds.

2. The console will power down.

3. Wait 30 seconds, and then turn your console back on by again pressing the Xbox button.

Note If your console is in Instant-On power mode, the above steps will shut the console completely off. Instant-On mode, or the ability to turn on your console by saying "Xbox On," won't be enabled until you restart the console."

Microsoft has high expectations for Titanfall and the company is banking on the new title to help boost Xbox One sales.

"It's hard to overstate the importance of Titanfall to the Xbox One release this year," said Microsoft devices and studios chief marketing and strategy officer Yusuf Mehdi. "For us, it's a game changer. It's a system seller."
