The Apple Watch is not due for an official release until Friday but, as expected, there's some serious buzz for the wearable, most especially with a lot of people eager to find out what exactly it can do.

So, what is the Apple Watch capable of? That may be mostly determined by the kind of apps that will be developed for Apple's newest offering.

Some of the best to be expected include:

  • Twitter. With a glance, top trends can be viewed on an Apple Watch, as well as all mentions and related activity to ensure users keep track of what's happening on Twitter.
  • Instagram. Despite its display being drastically smaller than the standard smartphone, the Apple Watch is offering a full experience of Instagram, with all of the app's features in place. This means users can scroll through their feed, like the best ones they see and tap on photos to get more details about a certain shot.
  • Mint. The blockbuster budgeting app comes to the Apple Watch offering, at a glance, budget and spending information to allow users to keep track of spending habits against savings goals every month.
  • Citymapper. Every commuter's friend on the iPhone, Citymapper jumps over to the Apple Watch offering the same quick access to mass-transit directions in various cities, but with the added convenience provided by a wearable.
  • Alarm.com. Users can make sure their homes are locked and safe with a simple glance and a tap of a button. Those who want to view security camera footage may also do so directly from their Apple Watch.
  • Uber. Request a pickup directly from an Apple Watch and users can get rides without actually pulling out their iPhones from their pockets. When the ride is close, a notification will be sent.
  • W Hotels. Checking into a W Hotel soon? Get an Apple Watch and it would be possible to unlock a room at any of the hotel's locations just by using the wearable. Goodbye, plastic key cards!
  • TripAdvisor. Comes with a feature that provides recommendations based on location information called TripAdvisor Glance to make it convenient to explore nearby points of interest during a trip.
  • Babbel. Encounter a word you don't understand? Babbel makes it easy to translate words, with users turning to the Apple Watch for quick reference.
  • OpenTable. Lets users discover restaurants wherever they are, providing details such as review ratings and prices, allowing for booking of tables and offering a map to a chosen restaurant.
  • Redfin. Users in the market for a new home can easily keep track of listings as Redfin notifies which properties are for sale as well as which ones are having open houses or if a favorite changed price or status.
  • Fidelity. With Fidelity, users can stay updated with up-to-the-minute information on the stock market, offering real-time market data and quotes.
  • iBank. Already popular with iPhone and Mac users, iBank is being developed for the Apple Watch as well, showing users budget and expense information at a glance, including how investments are performing. All accounts connected to iBank may also be viewed through the wearable app.
  • Daily Bread. Allows users to keep track of everything they need to pick up at the grocery store by allowing scrolling through shopping lists, entering "shop" mode where items are displayed one by one and notifying that all items have been bought.
  • Citi Mobile Lite. Citi is one of the first banks to develop an app for the Apple Watch, and the result is Citi Mobile Lite. The app offers access to accounts, allowing users to check balances, view most recent transactions and receive real-time notifications involving credit card purchases.
