Divinity: Original Sin made a big splash when it launched last year on PC after its successful Kickstarter campaign. It's a complex, old-school RPG that is every bit as great as more well-known fantasy RPG franchises like Dragon Age.

Now more players than ever before will get to experience Divinity: Original Sin for themselves when an enhanced edition of the game launches later this year for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC, Mac and Linux.

This isn't just a graphical update, however. Developer Larian Studios says Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition is practically a brand new game.

The enhanced edition will ship with fully-voiced characters, a complete graphical overhaul, local co-op, new content and a heavily rewritten story, including a new ending.

As a result, the two games on PC will be sold separately from one another, as the changes between the two are so great that save files from the original game won't work on this new edition.

"This means that saved games can't be transferred from Divinity: Original Sin to the Enhanced Edition," the developer writes. "This is largely because of the technical changes we've made to how the game looks and feels, but the story has also been rewritten so heavily that most saved games would no longer be compatible with the plot."

But don't worry PC gamers. If you've already purchased Original Sin, you'll receive the enhanced edition of the game for free.

The game will be making an appearance at E3 next month, so expect more details and a possible release date for Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition soon.
