Microsoft's 2015 Gamescom conference in Cologne, Germany has ended with an exciting revelation as a video game trailer for Halo Wars 2 teased and excited the crowd.

The sequel to a real-time strategy video game developed by Creative Assembly will be exclusively coming to Xbox One and Windows 10 players next year.

Halo Wars 2 is set to launch in the fall of 2016 and is reportedly offering a considerably different gameplay from the original video game developed by Ensemble Studios. Halo Wars was first launched back in 2009 for the Xbox 360.

Xbox posted this tweet to share the exciting news:

The video for Halo Wars 2 gives viewers a peek into the battle our heroes will face against forces that are determined to overcome them. The 1:10-minute announcement clip also offers some ideas about the new Halo Wars storyline and battleground setting, but it offers no idea at all regarding gameplay.

Together with Creative Assembly, Microsoft might just be able to reach its goal of making Halo War 2 into a blockbuster. After all, Creative Assembly is the same developer behind the successful horror game Alien: Isolation. Other games the company previously worked on include Empire: Total War and Total War: Rome 2.

Since Halo Wars 2 won't be released until 2016, Xbox players can continue honing their skills by playing other Halo games like Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Halo: Combat Evolved. Halo fans can also expect the upcoming Halo 5: Guardians to launch in October.
