Super Mario Maker will be officially released Friday, but if you've already seen the game in action or read one of the many positive reviews, you know that it looks like a bundle of fun. And really — who could resist the ability to create, play and share your very own Super Mario levels?

Castlevania designer Koji Igarashi is one of those people who couldn't resist the charms of Super Mario Maker. Polygon had him create his own Super Mario Maker level in a new video to kick off the website's Devs Make Mario series, and it is, unsurprisingly, the stuff that nightmares are made of.

Igarashi's Super Mario Maker level is not for the faint of heart. Rather than ease you into the stage, he introduces you to the biggest baddie of them all, Bowser, right at the beginning of the level.

“You’ve never seen Koopa at the beginning of the stage, only at the end of the stage, so it kind of turns Mario logic on its ear, and it’s funny,” Igarashi said via a translator in the video.

Though Igarashi doesn't feature Bowser at the end of the level as usual, he still saves the worst for last with a deluge of deadly obstacles, including a Warp Pipe with a Piranha Plant, a Fire Bar and a Thwomp. Igarashi gave the end of this level such a dangerous grand finale because he said he wanted "to be sadistic towards the player." Mission accomplished.
