A CDC study reported heart inflammations in 397 COVID-19-vaccinated children, according to a recent report by The Epoch Times

The COVID vaccine in question is the Pfizer BioNTech, which led to the youngsters aged 12-17 being diagnosed with heart inflammation. This information was included in a study published by the CDC on July 30.

All of the kids suffered from myocarditis, which is a heart ailment that mostly affects young boys. However, the study also claimed that the inflammations weren't really a direct result of getting the COVID-19 vaccine, as per the findings. The CDC study covered a period between December 14, 2020 and July 16, 2021, wherein they reviewed multiple reports of adverse vaccination reactions via the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS).

The results are also actually presenting far more benign implications that result from getting vaccinated against the coronavirus. Out of the 8.9 million youths who got vaxxed as of July 16, the 397 children who were diagnosed with inflammation comprised a tiny 4.3 percent of the total. The total amount of adverse reactions recorded were 9,246, which is extremely small compared to the almost 9 million-individual sample size.

This is more or less right where scientists want the number of adverse reactions to be, especially in youth. According to NationwideChildrens.org, the risk of developing myocarditis after a COVID vaccine is extremely low. And should anyone develop it, recovery is very possible even with not much treatment.

Does This Mean that COVID Vaccines Aren't Safe for Kids?

No, they're going to be safe. Here's why.

The Pfizer jab which was mentioned in the CDC study is actually one of only two vaccine brands so far (the other one being Moderna) which are frontrunners for a potential FDA approval. For now, the COVID-19 vaccine for kids from these two companies is still in the trial phase, and that's an extremely good thing. It means the companies still have more than enough time to work the kinks out.

Vaccinating children against the coronavirus is never as simple as doing it to adults, because youngsters come in so many different ages. And with those age brackets come widely varied immune system responses to a COVID vaccine.

The CDC Is NOT Fear Mongering

What the CDC published in their study might sound alarming, but again, consider the sample size. 397 out of 8.9 million points to an extremely low chance of getting a heart ailment or anything else more serious.

COVID-19 vaccines can't be given to children for now. But that's the entire point of the clinical tests. Scientists are performing the trials on children as young as two years, to others aged 5 to 11. They're covering a lot of bases at once, which is more than enough to improve the chances of developing a safe vaccine for all young people.
