Actor Joe Mangianello is leaving Bon Temps and heading for bigger things, if rumors about his latest project prove true.
CinemaBlend reports that the actor is close to signing on as Deathstroke, aka Slade Wilson, in DC Comics' new Suicide Squad film.
The actor is no stranger to these sort of rumors, though, and was even associated with the role of Batman in Superman v Batman, before Ben Affleck officially took on the role.
However, there is no ink drying on a contract just yet, and there's also a rumor that Dawn of The Planet of the Apes' Jason Clarke is also up for the role.
Deathstroke became a popular villain on the TV series Arrow, as portrayed by Manu Bennett, but DC hopes to keep its TV and film universes separate.
The Suicide Squad film opens August 5, 2016 and also stars Will Smith as Deadshot, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg, Jared Leto as the Joker, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney as Boomerang, Jessie Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller and Cara Delevingne as Enchantress.
Rumors abound when it comes to this movie, including the latest that the movie might even feature Antiphon, a lesser known villain from DC comics. Even more interesting are the rumors about the actor being pegged to play him: Ed Harris. In the comics, Antiphon heads up Onslaught, a terrorist made up of people with superpowers.
Even Oprah Winfrey was once named as a potential actress to portray Amanda Waller (that role eventually went to Viola Davis).
Actor Leto recently made headlines when he cut off his signature long hair and bleached it blond for his role as the Joker.
A lot is riding on Suicide Squad, too, at least according to writer John Ostrander.
"I was pleased, but I wouldn't have guessed that it would have been one of the properties that they would do quite so quickly," says Ostrander. "That's a heck of a slot. It's the first movie after Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. That places them pretty high and sure, that pleases me."
