A half dozen years after launching the first Droid handset, Verizon and Motorola are back to introduce the latest entries in the line once synonymous with Google's mobile operating system.  The first handset introduced today is all about durability. The key word here is "shatterproof" -- in fact, Motorola kicked things off my dropping the new Turbo 2 onto an on-stage cinderblock.

The rugged screen is the device's centerpiece, featuring a 5.4-inch flexible AMOLED display built on top of a rigid aluminum body. The device is the first to use the company's Shattershield technology, which can take its fair share of abuse.

The handset also has some solid specs on-board, including, most impressively a battery that boasts up to 48 hours on a charge. And when you do run out of battery, you can fill it up fast using the company's quick charge technology, which gives several hours of charge in 15 minutes.

Inside, you'll find a Snapdragon 810 processor and around the back is a 21-megapixel camera. The handset also utilizes Motorola's Motomaker customization site. It's available through Verizon at $26 a month.
