Back in May, GoPro announced its own camera-strapped quadcopter as part of its future plans, even tentatively aiming its release during the first half of 2016.

On Wednesday, GoPro released some of the footage that its drone will be able to capture, and in a word, it's stunning. Providing the memo that "the following video was captured using a developmental prototype of GoPro's quadcopter and stabilization system," the amazing footage over a woodland area rolls out, showing incredible image quality. This particular GoPro prototype quadcopter had the company's Hero 4 camera attached to it.

This sneak peek clip is certain to have people salivating and yearning for GoPro's quadcopter to come out that much sooner.

As of yet, the company hasn't given its camera-strapped drone a name or designated a price for the unit. However, if this is a taste of things to come from the action-camera company's first drone, then it'll be worth it whatever the cost may be.

As impressive as GoPro's video from its quadcopter is, the stable footage in itself should amaze, as the unit seemingly was able to glide in the air without meeting any turbulence that affected its picture at all. Engadget says its sharp picture is at least 1440p. While that may not compare with the DJI Inspire 1 drone, which boasts a 4K camera and $2,900 price tag, this video is proof that GoPro's quadcopter is capable of capturing its own awesome footage.

GoPro will count on its impending drone to be a commercial hit after the company has predicted a lower-than-expected revenue for the fourth quarter because of a lower demand for its recently-launched cameras, as reported by Reuters. Shares of the company dipped by 18.6 percent Wednesday.
