Russian President Vladimir Putin remains to be No. 1 in Forbes' ranking of "The World's Most Powerful People."

For the third time in a row, he is No. 1 out of 73, according to Forbes' seventh annual ranking.

German politician and former research scientist Angela Merkel, chancellor of Germany, moved up three places from last year's list, now at No. 2.

Meanwhile, U.S. President Barack Obama descended to No. 3 from his No. 2 rank last year. The year 2014 marked the first time a U.S. President made it Forbes' top two spots.

Pope Francis maintains his rank at No. 4, while Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China, dropped two spots, as compared to last year, now at No. 5.

Completing the top 10 ranking of "The World's Most Powerful People" are Bill Gates at No. 6, Janet Yellen at No. 7,UK Prime Minister David Cameron at No. 8, India Prime Minister Narendra Modi at No. 9 and Larry Page at No. 10.

On the other hand, Page's Google co-founder, Sergey Brin, fell 21 places, with reference to last year's ranking, and ended up at No. 30. Prime Minister Modi, on the contrary, moved up three spots, which landed her a place in the top 10.

Meanwhile, it was Mario Draghi who was bumped off the top 10, and ended up one spot lower, at No. 11.

Eight newcomers are also welcomed into Forbes' annual ranking, including Saudi Arabia King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud at No. 14, Hillary Clinton at No. 58, Michael Dell at No. 59, former President Bill Clinton at No. 64, Stephen Schwarzman at No. 62, Wang Jianlin No. 68, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at No. 69, Carl Icahn at No. 70 and Donald Trump at No. 72.

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has moved up the most number of spots this year, rising 22 places to be at No. 41. North Korea Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un at No. 46 and Mark Zuckerberg at No.19 are the youngest on the list, with Kim Jong-un at age 32 and Zuckerberg at age 31.
