The ultimate portable music board is finally going mobile: Roli has announced the release of Equator for iPhone, the company's next step in on-the-go sound production and companion app to its Seaboard Rise production line. The London-based music production startup is also launching its Flip Case, a new iPhone cover that also doubles as a smartphone or tablet stand.

Announced two months after the last Seabord Rise upgrade rollout, Roli's software synthesizer is the first music production-based app suited specifically for Apple's iOS 9 inferface update, 3D Touch. With 24 presets, the Equator app uses the interface feature for sound control, in a way akin to a microcosmal version of the Seaboard Rise's keywave surface.

As for the Flip Case, the lightweight, hard-shell covering comes with an eponymous flip feature that enables the iPhone it encases to become a freestanding device.

"The Seaboard Rise is already the best controller for making expressive music on the go," said Roli CEO Roland Lamb in a press statement released on Nov. 9. "Equator for iPhone gives Seaboard Rise creators a way to make music on two devices that fit under their arm and in their pocket. The Flip Case for Rise is a beautifully functional accessory that perfectly places mobile apps in the music creation process."

Equator for iPhone is free to download via Apple's app store. The Flip Case will be available for $129.99; a special deal offered by Roli will also let customers order both the Flip Case and the Seaboard Rise for only $849.99 for a limited time offer.
