Preorders of the consumer version of Samsung's Gear VR headset went live today just in time for the holidays.

Those looking to purchase the virtual reality headset can now do so from Best Buy for the retail price of $99.99, with the device scheduled for release on Nov. 20.

But remember that the headset is only compatible with select Samsung phones including the Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 Edge +, Galaxy S6 Edge, and Galaxy S6. The Gear VR uses the smartphone to provide the processing power and screen, and has a 96-degree viewing angle to make the user feel like they are in front of the big screen.

Consumers will be able to stream videos from Netflix, Hulu, Twitch and Vimeo, as well as experience other 360-degree videos daily on Samsung Milk VR.

But Gear VR also has internal sensors to accurately track head movements. The headset is equipped with an accelerator, gyrometer, geomagnetic sensor and proximity sensor that aids in navigating the virtual world.

The consumer version is said to be lighter than the developer models that were released in March and last December, and features a foam cushion for more comfortable wear. The Gear VR has a back band, top band and window cover, with touchpad controls located on the side.

Consumers can now preorder the virtual reality headset from Best Buy for just under $100.
