This Thursday, Nov. 12, the first Nintendo Direct will air since the passing of company CEO Satoru Iwata in July.

Nintendo Direct events are held to reveal new information about the company's future, including game announcements and new business ventures.

Obviously, when people think about the future of the company, two words overtake everything else: mobile and NX, Nintendo's next console.

Well, don't get too excited about either of those, because on the company's Direct site, it explicitly states that mobile gaming and the NX won't be getting any love.

It could be that the company simply isn't ready to announce anything, or it's waiting for a bigger event, like E3. However, the disappointment is unavoidable.

At least Nintendo had the foresight to squash our excitement before it could even build.

So, what's there to talk about, then? The smart money would be on some handheld news, a couple of game announcements and (hopefully) finally some information on the new Zelda title.

With Star Fox Zero getting delayed until 2016 and Super Mario Maker getting eclipsed by titles like Fallout 4 and Call of Duty this holiday season, Nintendo needs this Direct to be a big one. If you want people to dust off their Wii Us, a little Zelda could go a long way.
