A photo of an "alien-like creature" has been circulating online, causing social media users to go berserk.

Facebook user Gianna Peponis uploaded a photo of a pink, slimy creature on her page and claimed that it was taken at the back garden of her California home.

"I heard something scream at like 11.30 last night and went on my side yard and found this thing," she said.

The photo was uploaded after a strange light streak was seen over the California sky, which baffled the public and caused some to predict that the light was an indication of a UFO. The U.S. Navy, however, said that it was a Trident missile that was then put to a test.

Peponis said she found the alien-like creature on the night that the mysterious light also appeared in the sky. In the post, she also indicated her fear of the government, pleading Facebook users to be her voice in case something happens to her.

The photo was widely spread all over social media and comments kept on flowing. Some said it does look like an alien while others questioned the validity of the photo. A number of people said that it was probably an aborted deer fetus/calf.

A Facebook user named Kayla Elizabeth Elaine Campbell commented that people should stop sharing the photo due to its questionability. She claims that it was a premature calf and that the photos were not taken in California, but seven miles away from her home in Bolivar, Missouri. She called out to people to stop the ignorance.

Peponis, however, stood by her claim arguing that she wouldn't have heard a loud scream if the creature was indeed an aborted calf. "There is going to be opposition in all truth," she said. "I've accepted that."
