Developers of the popular livestreaming app Periscope have announced a new update that brings 3D Touch support for iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus devices, along with other neat features.

The new update also brings forth a new version of the app's Global Map feature. This new capability was first released and detailed back in June. However, the function was limited in what it could do. Now, those limitations are gone.

At the time, the Global Map did not show replays and could only allow a total of 250 broadcasts. This angered some users of the app, but now they should feel a lot better with this new update because it now allows more streams along with the ability to replay videos.

Bear in mind that livestreams are denoted with red dots, while replays from the last 24 hours are indicated with blue dots.

Another cool feature in the new Periscope update is the option to skip ahead in replays. This can be done by holding down on the replay button and then dragging it from backward or forward. Dragging it up and down will change the seek speed. Furthermore, the update adds support for 3D Touch as noted above, but this is exclusive to the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.

To take advantage of 3D Touch, users can press and hold the Periscope icon. By doing so, users can use the Search, Teleport, Broadcast Mutuals and Broadcast features.

The Teleport feature will take users to a random stream. Broadcast Mutual allows for starting a private broadcast with one or more people. The Broadcast feature, on the other hand, allows for starting a regular broadcast. All this can be done by pressing and holding the Periscope app icon.

Periscope version 1.3 is available for iOS and Android.
