Audi turned heads with its Q6 e-tron Quattro SUV concept at the Frankfurt Auto Show this past September.

Well, now, it looks like it will be getting a little competition from another luxury automaker jumping in the space of electric SUVs. Autocar is reporting that Jaguar is planning to release its own all-electric SUV as soon as 2017. If that report pans out, the yet-to-be-named vehicle will hit the market ahead of the e-tron Quattro, which is slated for a 2018 release.

Although there isn't much known about the all-electric vehicle thus far, it will reportedly take design cues from the Jaguar C-X75 (pictured below), which is front and center in the latest James Bond movie, Spectre, and have a similar 300-mile driving range to what the e-tron Quattro is projecting.

Sources tell Autocar that an electric motor could be mounted in each corner, making for in-wheel motor technology to be used to power this Jaguar SUV. That and Jaguar is planning on giving it the most distinctive style — something that shouldn't come as a surprise, considering the brand has been known to deliver sleek flair over the years. It will be interesting to see how much of the C-X75's style this impending SUV uses in its design. After all, despite coming from the same automaker, it still wants to be its own vehicle.

While Jaguar's planned electric SUV might hit the road sooner than the e-tron Quattro, Tesla stands to beat both luxury brands to the market space with its own Model X. Volvo's planned electric SUV is slated to be available in 2019.
