Gamers often buy high-end graphics cards to maximize their experience and AMD now wants to make one of its cards more attractive. The Radeon R9 Fury now comes with a free copy of Star Wars: Battlefront, as part of a limited-edition bundle.

The AMD Radeon R9 Fury graphics card made its debut back in July, but it's not exactly the most affordable one out there. With this new bundle that also offers Star Wars: Battlefront, however, AMD's Radeon R9 Fury might be able to better compete against the Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 this upcoming holiday season. The bundle could justify the higher price of the R9 Fury and attract more shoppers who would otherwise go for the more affordable GTX 980.

When purchasing an AMD Radeon R9 Fury, customers will receive a code for the free Star Wars: Battlefront game. The promotion is a limited-time deal that kicked off on Nov. 17 and runs until Jan. 31, 2016, or until key codes run out. Buyers who purchase the R9 Fury during the campaign period must redeem their code within one month after the campaign expires, or until Feb. 29, 2016.

As AMD further highlights in the Star Wars: Battlefront Terms and Conditions (PDF), only the Radeon R9 Fury is eligible for this offer. This means that the Star Wars: Battlefront bundle is not available with the Radeon R9 Fury X or R9 Fury Nano models.

It's a bit odd to apply this offer to only one card, leaving the other cards in the series out of the loop, but AMD likely wants to push its Radeon R9 Fury because it has a higher average price compared to rival products of similar prowess.

AMD worked with both DICE and EA to ensure that Star Wars: Battlefront works well on Radeon GPUs, the company further notes in its announcement.

It remains to be seen whether this new promotional bundle will translate to better sales for the AMD Radeon R9 Fury, but the offer could become a hot deal for the holidays. Star Wars: Battlefront has stirred plenty of interest so far, and getting a free copy of a popular game when upgrading your graphics card sounds pretty good.
