Passengers at South Korea's Incheon International Airport should prepare to be awed by the massive display of LG's OLED panels.

LG Electronics unveiled two of the world's largest OLED displays at South Korea's award-winning airport. The company has collaborated with renowned French design firm Wilmotte & Associés in developing the mammoth displays that passengers can see at the main terminal area.

"These OLED displays perfectly complement the advanced technology that our airport has become known for," said President and CEO Park Wan-Su of Incheon International Airport. "We are always eager to showcase to the millions of travelers every year the cutting-edge technology that originates from Korea. OLED is a prime example of that."

Both displays are made up of 140 curved OLED panels that measure 55-inches each. As a result, the huge display stands 43 feet high and 26 feet across.

LG says that the size of the displays is comparable to the size of three large shipping containers.

At such a mammoth size, there's no doubt that the displays are good channels for showcasing the company's display technology. It is also used as signage in the airport, which is definitely impossible to miss.

According to LG, the curved displays are designed to demonstrate the impressive capabilities of OLED technology. One example is a display content that shows amazing fireworks being set against the dark evening sky.

Note that each pixel in an OLED display produces its own light. This type of technology drops the need to use heavy LED backlighting and allows the display to become unbelievably light and flexible. Since it is lightweight, it's possible for it to hang from the ceiling even with minimal support.

"We are more excited about the opportunity to introduce travelers from across the world to the magic of OLED," said LG's Ro Se-yong, Senior VP and Head of business to business solutions.

As we previously reported, LG had already highlighted how the OLED display technology can actually benefit any industry type.

"We don't want to limit the display for each industry," said at the time KJ Kim, VP of OLED Sales/Marketing Division at LG Display. "It can be used as a signage product, a video wall, or a show window. There are many, many areas for application."
