Doctor Who Legacy, the popular puzzle game based on the British TV series Doctor Who, is set to get an update that unlocks new characters and levels.

The release, which coincides with the launch of the first issues of two Doctor Who comic books, will give users content lifted from the storyline of new titles published by Titan Comics.

As per Comic Book Resources, the first issues of Doctor Who: The Tenth Doctor and Doctor Who: the Eleventh Doctor will come with an exclusive link that leads to a code that can be used to integrate new characters from the comic books into the video game. In the new titles, the story of how the Doctor met characters Alice Obiefune and Gabriella Gonzales is revealed. As part of the update, the two characters will be integrated into the video game. The Tenth Doctor comic book is based on the portrayal of Scottish actor David Tennant, who played the role in a three-series run from 2006 to 2008. The Eleventh Doctor is based on Matt Smith's version of the famous character. His tenure as the Doctor lasted from 2010 to 2013.

"We're very excited to be working with Titan to add the Tenth and Eleventh Doctors' newest companions to the world of Legacy. Seeing them fight alongside other fan-favorites companions like Amy, Clara and River Song, and go up against the amazing new enemies introduced in the comics, is pretty thrilling," said Tiny Rebel Games' Susan and Lee Cummings in a press release. Tiny Rebel Games is one of the studios responsible for creating the game. Seed Studios is also credited as a developer for the game.

Doctor Who Legacy was launched late last November, shortly after the BBC series celebrated its 50th anniversary. The game delves into the series' entire half century history and features the show's most famous characters and villains. Doctor Who Legacy is a free game that is available on Android and iOS and on Kindle Fire devices. Both issues of the new Doctor Who comic books are scheduled to come out July 23. The release date is three days ahead of what has been designated as Doctor Who Comics Day.
