CW has released a fairly lengthy first look at its upcoming Arrow/Flash crossover television series, DC's Legends of Tomorrow. The time travel-based series sees heroes and villains from both shows team up to save the world to—you guessed it—become legends themselves.

In classic DC style, the show is essentially a glorified team-up with the members being recruited by Rip Hunter, a time traveler, in order to fight the immortal villain Vandal Savage. See, in the future, Savage has completely taken over the world. Hunter believes stopping Savage before his full rise to power is the way to go, but he's going to need help. Like, eight other people worth of help, for some reason.

The first look itself focuses on the various heroes and villains working together to take on this new and seemingly unstoppable threat. Atom, White Canary, Firestorm, and more get a chance to shine and show their stuff. We also get a slightly better look at Hawkgirl and Hawkman, though it's still unclear exactly how they fit into things compared with the already established characters.

Here's the series' synopsis, straight from the CW:

When heroes alone are not enough... the world needs legends. Having seen the future, one he will desperately try to prevent from happening, time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter is tasked with assembling a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat - one in which not only is the planet at stake, but all of time itself. Can this ragtag team defeat an immortal threat unlike anything they have ever known? DC'S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW stars Victor Garber ("The Flash," "Alias"); Brandon Routh ("Arrow," "Superman Returns"); Arthur Darvill ("Doctor Who"); Caity Lotz ("Arrow"); Ciarra Renee ("Pippin"); Franz Drameh ("Edge of Tomorrow"); with Dominic Purcell ("The Flash," "Prison Break"); and Wentworth Miller ("The Flash," "Prison Break"). Based on the characters from DC Comics, DC'S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW is from Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television, with executive producers Greg Berlanti ("Arrow," "The Flash," upcoming "Pan"), Marc Guggenheim ("Arrow," "Eli Stone," "Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters"), Andrew Kreisberg ("Arrow," "The Flash," "Eli Stone," "Warehouse 13") and Sarah Schechter ("Arrow," "The Flash," upcoming "Pan").

Legends of Tomorrow is currently scheduled to premiere at 8 p.m. EST Jan. 21, 2016 on the CW.
