The first image of Hawkman and Hawkgirl in costume is here, and well, it looks OK. Some of us were expecting a lot more awesomeness to the first image of these new heroes, but this will have to do.

While the costumes are not bad looking, they still come with the generic leather design. This time around, the color is red instead of black.

Unlike the Hawkman and Hawkgirl we've come to know from the comics, we have to say The CW versions are not very imposing. In all honesty, we'd likely be able to kick their asses without breaking a sweat.

It would have been a lot better if the first image showed both characters with their trademark wings to really solidify who these heroes are. However, for some strange reason, this was not done, and as such, we are left with two ordinary-looking people.

Still, we have to consider that both characters are set to appear in a TV show in the form of Legends of Tomorrow and not a movie. It means that the budget could be lower, especially since this new series is based on a team of heroes and not just one primary character.

We like the medieval take on the costumes, but not so much the dark red color. It makes the costumes come off as a little bit modern, so we are hoping that we'll get used to the design as the series commences.

Another element in the image that caught our eyes is the mace weapon Hawkman is holding. We would have preferred if Hawkgirl had one as well, but from what we can tell, she has what appears to be knives instead.

Overall, we can't wait to see what these two bring to the table. We've seen them before in Smallville, and the whole thing was completely ridiculous, so let us hope the characters are done justice this time around because they deserve it.
