The sportier version of the second-generation Moto 360 smartwatch from Motorola finally made its debut as the Moto 360 Sport and it will become available for purchase starting this month in select markets.

Motorola announced the Moto 360 Sport back in September, alongside the regular Moto 360 (second-generation), but so far the sportier gadget has been MIA. No pricing or availability details were available, keeping prospective customers in the dark.

The company finally revealed the details of the Moto 360 Sport, announcing when the new gadget will hit the market and how much it will cost. Interested customers in the U.S., however, are out of luck if they planned to get the Moto 360 Sport this year.

Motorola announced that its new Moto 360 Sport will hit retail in France and the UK on Dec. 18, but has yet to reveal exact pricing details for these two markets. For now, the company only disclosed the price of the device in the U.S., where it will cost $299.

At the same time, while the UK and France will get the new Moto 360 Sport just in time for the holidays, interested buyers in the U.S. will have to wait longer to get the device. The sporty new wearable will not make its way to the U.S. until Jan. 7, so you might want to scratch it off your Christmas list.

That said, these are the first three markets that will see the Moto 360 Sport, but the gadget is set for a wider release after its U.S. launch in January. Motorola didn't offer any specifics, but said that it will launch its new smartwatch in Canada, Brazil, Mexico, China, and Spain "in the new year."

When it comes to the difference between the new Moto 360 Sport and its regular counterpart, it mostly consists of bands, GPS and a tougher shell that will be able to handle sweat, as it's targeted toward sportive users.

"With the all new Moto 360 Sport you can get everything you need for your run - and leave your phone at home," teased Motorola.
