Google has updated Google Photos to bring Photo Sphere to the Web.

Users can now open their desktop browser to view uploaded photo spheres through Google Photos without needing to use their mobile device. Of course, mobile devices can be used to do the same.

Not only can users view photo spheres that they've created, but they can also head to Google Maps to see public photo spheres from others in Street View.

"We heard your feedback — you can now view and explore your uploaded photo spheres in Google Photos on the Web. Viewing photo spheres is also supported on the mobile Web and in the Android app," said Google in a blog post.

A Photo Sphere itself is basically a panorama photo that is viewable as a 360-degree image. Users can enjoy them by swiping around to determine the directionality of the view, but they can also use Google Cardboard to look around the spheres, leading to a more natural experience. In fact, Google makes it even easier to create photo spheres with its new Cardboard Camera app, which can be used on any device running Android 4.4 KitKat or later, and is meant to be used along with Cardboard. Users simply have to press the record button and then slowly rotate their camera in a circle, which will capture the entire scene.

After the video has been captured, there will be a minute or so of processing before users will be able to take a look at their new 360-degree image.
