Controlling a GoPro camera from your wearable tech device? Why not?

GoPro has done just that for Apple Watch users, introducing its app for the company's wearable tech timepiece, giving users the convenience of tapping controls on their wrist, while they're doing whatever high-energy, action activity of their choice. It's a coup for Apple Watch users, considering they had to use third-party apps to make that possible in the past.

Now, users can do everything from previewing their shot to toggling between capture modes, and starting and stopping to record via their Apple Watch. They can even add HiLight tags to mark the best moments of their videos using the wearable tech device in conjunction with the GoPro app.

What's interesting about this introduction is GoPro's app for the iPhone has also been updated to include trim and share features. So, after hitting record on the Apple Watch to capture a desired moment, users can then take their iPhones out of their pockets and trim clips by five, 15 or 30 seconds, using the smart editing controls. Once the clip is edited down to the right length, users can share it instantly on social media.

To drive the overall perks of having the GoPro app available on the Apple Watch and the new features added to the iPhone app, the action camera company got professional skateboarder Mikey Taylor to demonstrate how advantageous it is for him to have these abilities at his disposal.

"I started skating around '96. It was just different than it is now. My whole idea of skateboarding has changed because of social media," Taylor says in a GoPro clip.

That being said, Taylor strategically places his GoPro camera on the ground, taps the record button on his Apple Watch and performs his skateboarding trick, before sliding his smartphone out of his pocket, trimming the clip and sharing it to social media. Just like that.

Taylor says this is a game-changer for what he does — not to mention, a time-saving tool.

Anything for added convenience.
