After living for three years as husband and wife and six romance, Lord of the Rings star Orlando Bloom and Victoria's Secret supermodel Miranda Kerr have called it quits.

The two started dating in the fall of 2007 and announced their engagement in June 2010 before tying the knot in July of the same year.

The separation was announced Thursday in a joint statement read by a representative for Bloom.

"In a joint statement, Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr have announced that they have been amicably separated for the past few months. After six years together, they have recently decided to formalize their separation," Bloom's rep announced the breakup.

"Despite this being the end of their marriage, they love, support and respect each other as both parents of their son and as family," the celebrity ex-couple's statement continued.

The Australian model gave birth in 2011 to their son, Flynn who just celebrated his second birthday in January.

The couple was last seen together on October 8 before the separation was made public. The last public appearance of the star couple was on September 19 to attend the opening of "Romeo and Juliet" in Broadway in which Bloom starred with Condola Rashad.

Just this month Kerr spoke fondly about Bloom in an interview with Cosmopolitan.

"When I saw Orlando on Broadway in Romeo and Juliet, I was blown away. For someone to be able to learn all that and hold the energy to do it every day, six days a week-I have so  much respect for him," Kerr said.

Rumors about the two's problematic marriage started before the end of 2012 when the couple was spotted together but Kerr was not wearing her wedding band. The two also had not been seen together in public for months during that time.

Bloom and Kerr had later dismissed speculations about their marital woes by appearing more often in public and portraying themselves as a happy family.

Aside from "The Lord of the Rings," trilogy, Bloom rose to stardom as one of the cast members of Johnny Depp's popular franchise, "Pirates of the Caribbean."

Kerr started as an angel in Victoria's Secret fashion show in 2007 and ranks among the top-paid models in the world.
