Paris' Chateau Louis XIV, built in honor of Louis the Great, was sold for a whopping price of $301 million, making it the world's most expensive home. With the said price tag, it beat the previous recordholder, which is a London penthouse that costs $221 million.

The buyer? A Middle Eastern national, who requested to remain anonymous. Deal broker Christie's International Real Estate and property developer COGEMAD declined to release further details about the private buyer.

The grand home is located between Marly-le-Roi and Versailles and sits on a green, lush lot measuring 57 acres.

Despite it being completed in 2011 only, the entire property resembles the greatness of the 17th century — its halls, furniture, decorations and overall feel.

The chateau was built by a Saudi developer named Emad Khashoggi, who contracted 200 workers to work on the property for three years.

Among the lavish features of the home include 10 bedroom suites, two ballrooms, an underground nightclub, a wine cellar, a squash court, a home theater and a meditation room with an aquarium filled with fish as its walls.

Marble was used vastly in the entire house, specifically in its floorings, garden mosaics, bathroom tiles and on Louis the Great's statue.

The murals resemble that of Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel and the statues are covered in gold leaf.

Outside is a maze that measures 1.2 miles, where a replica of Chateau de Versailles' fountain of Apollo is situated. The facade is made of monumental bronze and also features an enamel clock, just like the one in Versailles.

All in all, the property boasts nothing but luxurious, over-the-top French royalty.

With its high-standard features, security in the place is surely top-notch as well. The house has 40 high-technology surveillance cameras, through which clips can be viewed all around the world using an iPad. A state-of-the-art alarm system was also installed.

"The splendors of Versailles embrace the high-tech revolution," the COGEMAD website wrote.

Kim Kardashian once considered the Chateau Louis XIV as a wedding venue for her wedding with Kanye West. She was seen scouting the place a month prior to her May 2014 ceremony.
